When I was little my mom would make me a special candy cane cake for my birthday. It consisted of a homemade angel food cake, fresh whipped cream and a drizzle of a crunchy candy cane sauce. The beauty of being a December baby is that there are a lot of candy canes around this time of year! Call it nostalgia, but this week I was craving a little something special using candy canes – and that is the inspiration for this smoothie!

Festive Candy Cane Smoothie
Bear with me on the ingredient list. I’ve tried a few versions of this smoothie, some with a creamy yogurt, others with a handful of cashews, but nothing added a nice creaminess and yet stood back to let the candy canes shine quite like an avocado!
